Who we are
Waggy Paths ("we", "us") operates the Waggy Paths website and companion iOS app, which help dog owners find and evaluate pet-friendly places. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and the choices you have. It is written to align with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service:
- Account details — your name and email address when you create an account.
- Location — your device location, only when you allow it, to centre the map and provide the walk-weather feature. The website reads location in your browser and does not store it on our servers.
- Community contributions — places you save, reviews, and updates you post, together with the account they belong to.
- Basic technical data — standard server logs (IP address, browser type) used to keep the service secure and reliable.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide and improve the service: to show you relevant pet-friendly places, to publish the community contributions you choose to share, to secure your account, and to respond to your enquiries. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to deliver features: Google Maps to render the interactive map, Open-Meteo to provide weather data (the website calls Open-Meteo directly from your browser with no account attached), and our hosting provider to run the service. Each processes data only as needed to provide their function.
Cookies
The website uses only essential cookies and similar local storage to keep you signed in and remember your theme preference. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your rights
You can access and correct your account details at any time from your profile. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information by contacting us at privacy@waggypaths.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time and in line with the APPs.
